Birthday present from the Albani Foundation

15. March 2017 | The Johannes Larsen Museum

A major contribution from the Albani Foundation will assure that the 150th anniversary of Johannes Larsen’s birth will be fittingly celebrated.

On Friday, January 27, the director of the Albani Foundation visited the Johannes Larsen Museum in Kerteminde to present a big check. The amount of the check is 560,000 kr., which will be used to pay for exhibitions, a book, events and activities during 2017 to celebrate Johannes Larsen’s 150th birthday this year.

Johannes Larsen was born in Kerteminde in 1867 and lived in the town, with a few absences for studying and travelling, until his death in 1961. In 2017, the Johannes Larsen Museum will mount a series of exhibitions in his honour. The 150th anniversary celebration will begin with the opening of “Garden by the Sea” and the publishing of a book with the same name (Haven ved Havet) on April 1, and will culminate on December 27, with a festive event at the Johannes Larsen Museum on his birthday.
