Seaweed trip with Helle Baslund

Tid: Thursdays from July 6 until August 10
Sted: We’ll meet in the parking lot of the Johannes Larsen Museum on Hindsholmvej.

There is great interest in seaweed as food, but it can be confusing to get started on your own. It’s actually very simple and that’s what this field trip is about.

We will head to the beach and gather seaweed from the shallow water, learning the different species as we go. Back in the museum garden, we will start with these completely ordinary and common types of seaweed and prepare different taste samples: bread with seaweed, seaweed chips, marinated seaweed for salads, blanched and boiled seaweed or maybe fried seaweed with cabbage for an omelette.

Along the way, we’ll talk about the many other possibilities there are for using seaweed in everyday cooking, as a vegetable or perhaps granulated, or in pesto. It can be dried and stored in different ways.

The seaweed trips will take place on the following Thursdays:
July 6, 10:00 AM
July 13, 10:00 AM
July 20, 1:00 PM
July 27, 10:00 AM
Aug. 3, 1:00 PM
Aug. 10, 10:00 PM
(The variation in times is due to the high and low tides.)

Meeting place: the parking lot down the hill from the museum.
Price: Adults, 100 kr., buy your ticket here
