At last summer’s special exhibition entitled GREEN, the Johannes Larsen Museum showed a great many works by Christine Swane. In addition to painting and creating ceramics, Christine Swane embroidered her own compositions, which in their designs have a lot in common with her cubist-oriented paintings.
The museums’ embroiderers, a group of volunteers, sewed copies of several of her embroidered pictures during Christine Swane’s exhibition.
Now the 10-12 embroiderers have a new workshop, since the exhibition “GREEN” is over. They have taken up residence in the guest bedroom on the second floor of Alhed and Johannes Larsen’s villa.
Every Wednesday from 11 AM til 1 PM, you can meet the needlepoint women here. They are currently working on sewing various embroidered objects from the villa, such as a round tablecloth with woollen embroidery, several sofa pillows, drill-woven handtowels with monograms, linen table runners, and two tea cozies, one of which was designed and sewn by Christine Swane from a checkered tea towel, and much more.
You are most welcome to pay the embroiderers a visit; they will gladly show you their work.
